Ok, in case you don’t know who I am, my name is Frank James Bailey. I’m a voice actor. I do voice overs. I was also making funny videos on Youtube for a while too. I say I WAS because well…let me explain.
I have ALWAYS been the kind of person that wants to have fun while doing my job. I was in radio for 20 years! I loved it! Playing music, talking to people, even making fun of listeners sometimes too…it was a very fun job!
About 2009, when I went into voice overs full-time, I still loved what I did. Being paid to voice a script from the comfort of my own home, what’s NOT to like? It’s just, sometimes there were some voice over jobs I didn’t think were…well, fun.
As I said, I’m a very outgoing guy. Most of the time, I stay positive about everything. Life is to shot to be depressed and NOT have fun! When I first started doing voice overs full time, I wanted to try it all. I found out quickly what I was good at and what I was NOT so good at. For me…narrating audiobooks, ebooks, elearning, and medical narrations are NOT fun. I find them very boring. Now they can pay very well, but unless my “heart” is into it, I don’t really want to do it. Again, these jobs paid pretty good. But it took me a long time to finish these long form narration projects because I kind of didn’t want to do them. Do you know what I mean? Do you remember that feeling you had when you had a horrible job? (Oh My God…I have to go to work AGAIN!) OK…maybe I’m over exaggerating a little. Long form narration wasn’t THAT bad! But still, it wasn’t fun.
I started doing this Youtube show, The Frank Video Show, back in September of 2011. As the views on my show kept growing, I got more and more excited to do more and more shows! The whole point was to someday be a Youtube partner and make some money for doing these videos. (Between $1 - $3 for every 1000 views!) I never got that chance to be partner!
On February 17, (or around then) I was click bombed and my adsense account was disabled. Which means I will NEVER make any money from adsense for doing this fun show I loved to do.
Oh, I could still try and do the show on another web site (like Blip.tv) to try and make money, but…
…I noticed was that my voice overs were taking a back seat. And that’s NOT good.
The good thing is, some people who SAW my little show wanted me to make a video for them! People now want to HIRE me to make videos! Now that’s cool! And…fun!!!
I guess the point I’m trying to make here is, voice overs will ALWAYS be my first job. I know now that I will not do long form narration projects. (audio books, ebooks, elearning, medical narration) There are LOTS of other VO jobs out there that are NOT long form narration.
I want fun jobs like commercials, radio station liners, characters, and so much more. Like I said, I’m a fun, outgoing, and corn-ball type of guy. Hire me to do something fun and you won’t be disappointed!
Oh, and on some occasions, I can even make a video for new clients too. I still can’t believe someone wants to PAY ME to ACT like someone else in front of the camera? (someone has already talked to me about being a spokesperson for their videos. I’ll be an auto mechanic giving tips on car care! And I know NOTHING about cars!!!) Yep…that will really get my creative juices flowing…and sounds like a lot of fun!
By the way…I voice a LOT of Internet videos that are plain and simple reads. I LOVE those because they are short and sweet. They are NOTHING like reading 37 pages of a medical narration Powerpoint. Simple or not, I believe I have a way of bringing “life” to these Internet videos I voice. Besides, 99% of the time, an Internet video is usually 1 - 5 minutes long. If it was any monger you wouldn’t want to watch it, you’d get board. Trust me…I RARELY watch Youtube videos that are OVER 6 minutes long.
Finally, if I don’t do my “show”, The Frank Video Show, anymore it was a good learning experience. It taught me how to create and make videos. I’m sure that will come in handy in the years to come.
Please watch re-runs of my show on Blip.tv. It’s the ONLY place I will ever make any money for it now. The link is below.
Thanks
Frank

I’m sure I told you I’m a voice actor. I’m also sure I told you about my wife who is expecting our 2nt child. And that I took on a 2nt job I to help me pay for a room to be built in the basement. A new recording booth.
This 2nt job is 2nt shift. I actually WANTED to go on 2nt so I would have more time in the day time to do my voice projects and make my videos.
The problem is, staying up late is taking it’s toll on me. On Monday and Tuesday I seem to be OK. But by Wednesday the lack of sleep starts to get to me. For the past 2 weeks I’ve slept in until 10am on Thursday. This week….I slept in today. Wednesday. Wednesday’s are a day when I have extra time…sort of.
You see, my daughter only goes to pre-school 3 days out of the week. Mon. Tue. & Thur. So Wed. & Fri. she goes to the baby sister so I can get my work done at home. My wife takes her to the sitters at 6:30am. So I have until the time she leaves at 6:30am until 3pm to get all my voice work and videos done.
The problem is, if I’m sleeping in until 10am, 1/2 the day is gone! I just missed all that extra time I would have had!
When I was working during the day, I would get home by 2:15pm, do some voice work, then have to go pick up my daughter from school at 3:30, get back into my booth at 6:30pm or 7. Stay in there until about 9, maybe 10. To me…it didn’t seem like I had a lot of time to do my VO work, so I went on 2nt shift.
But now, if I’m sometimes sleeping in until 10am, I’m losing a lot of that extra time I need.
I’m seemed to be screwed either way.
The good thing is, I plan on quieting this 2nt job about late May. I want to spend time with my wife when she has our new baby in June.
And hopefully, buy that time, the booth will be made and ready for me to make lots of money in it!
Hopefully!
I just need to get my ass out of bed!

Do you HATE the new Youtube layout? Do you want to switch back to the OLD layout. To bad!
Happy Birthday To My Daughter Paige, she turns 5 today.
What do you think the big birthdays are? 16, 21, 30, 40 and 50 for sure. 100 would be a HUGE milestone, if you live that long.
But what about the small mile stones? Is 5 a big birthday? 10? Turning 1 is kind of a big one too but most people don’t remember turning 1.
Whenever I’m in my recording booth, Paige loves to sing or say her ABC’s in the microphone. She also LOVES to watch herself on video. She can entertain herself in front of a web cam for hours!
Will she grow up to be a voice actor, like her daddy? Maybe! Will she grow up to be a singer or an actress? Who knows!
The one thing I know for sure is, she has her daddy’s outgoing personality. Which I think is good…but also scary at the same time. The teen age years are right around the corner.
Yep…I think turning 5 years old is kind of a big birthday.
Happy Birthday Paige.
Frank

This is the latest update of my show, The Frank Video Show. It’s all about stupid people on the Internet. Enjoy!!
Google Plus (or Google + or G+) A few months ago I did a blog about Googling your self. Or rather Googling your name. If you haven’t read the blog yet, I wrote it back in July, right here on Word press. Check it out. This blog is sort of an update. It’s about Google Plus. I’m sure most people know, facebook is a monster! What I mean is…just about EVERYBODY is on facebook. Even your grandma! (OK, I don’t actually know for sure if your grandma is on facebook. Mine isn’t. But there is a comedy song about that.) For the past 4 – 5 years facebook has grown to be the biggest social networking site in the world! Well, lookout facebook. The new kid on the block is called Google Plus. And it’s growing fast!! In the early part of this past summer, Google Plus was by Invite only! In September, Google Plus was opened to the public. I was lucky enough to be invited back in the summer. In just a few short months, I found myself using Google Plus a lot more. For 1… the layouts are very similar to facebook. People can post comments on your “page” or “wall”, just like facebook. 2 – You can add pictures and video a lot easier. And 3 – the biggest difference (and my favorite so far!) is the circles. I love how I can put different people in different categories (or rather circles). I have a circle for voice actors, I have a circle for friends, for family, and for Youtubers. I’m seeing a LOT of new faces on G+. Just like back in 2008 or 2009, when a lot of people were using Myspace and switched to Facebook, today I know a lot of people who have switched from Facebook to G+. Will people stop using Facebook all together? I don’t think so. For 1, Facebook still has a few features that Google Plus doesn’t have yet. On Facebook, you can create a “like” or “fan” page and have as many people as you want “like” you. If you just have a regular facebook page, there is a 5000 friend limit. The bad thing is, facebook is making a LOT of changes. Changes that a lot of people just don’t like! So they switch! Google Plus also has a cool thing called a “hangout” where up to 8 people can do a video call! (I think I saw that in a Star Trek movie once! LOL) Finally, what I’ve noticed in the past few months is Google Plus seems to be in that “cool new place to hang out” faze right now. Yes…it’s only been a few months for Google Plus. People are NOT leaving Facebook in droves. (at least not yet) but, on the other hand, I know that a lot of Facebook users are. So far, it look like the “cool kids” are the only ones using Google Plus right now. Not your grandma. At least…not yet. If you’re not on Google Plus, go there and check it out. Add me to your circle. Let me know what you think. The link is below. Thanks for reading. Have a good weekend. FrankI know I just updated this Blog yesterday, but I felt the need to update it today with blog about Google Plus.
