Superstitions for voice work?

A lot of athletes have weird superstitions. Like, they wont wash there socks if they’re on a winning streak.

I wrote a blog (which I will post this Wend on my web site) about a weird thing I did to help me get MORE voice work. It has NOTHING to do with marketing, auditions or demos!

Do you have any superstitions that help you get more voice work?

Today is one of those days where I’m watching my kids AND trying to audition for voice work too! I pop down stairs in my studio when ever I get the chance.

But ever so often I hear though the heating vent…”Daddy, whatcha doin?”

Or “Daddy, can you come play with me.”

Or (the one I really hate to hear) “Daddy, Mason popped”.

Monday is my day off

My fathers day is going to extend into tomorrow…sort of.

No baby sitter tomorrow so I get to watch my kids all day and spend more time with them. As I do every Monday during the summer.

Until I get a constant flow of VO work, at least 2 or 3 jobs EVERYDAY, then my sort of “day off” is Monday.

Happy Father’s Day weekend everyone! I was raised by my grandparents so my grandpa was like my dad. He passed away in 2000. I’m not as old as my grandfather was when I was growing up, but I did have my kids late in life. Better a little late in life then too late…right? Now it’s my turn to be the “dad”. And I consider my self a “fun” dad too!

Lack of sleep!

For the past three days in a row I’ve only gotten about 4 - 5 hours of sleep.

One night I was working late, the next night a storm passed buy, last night I got home late from a meeting. I usually get at least 6 - 7 hours of sleep. I can survive on 6 - 7 hours a night. NOT only 4 or 5.

Tonight might be the first Friday night I get to bed before 10pm in a LONG time!

I’m watching my kids today (no baby sitter) and it’s going to rain ALL DAY. So we can’t leave the house!

I have a feeling this is going to be one of those days where I’m going to get a ton of voice work. Some days I have a lot, some days I don’t. I’m just saying, knowing my luck (since I’m watching my kids and I can’t go anywhere) I’ll get a lot today…because I have so much on my plate!

I’m a little disappointed I couldn’t go with my family (Amy, Paige & Mason) to her family reunion / park lunch with them. But I have to get a few things done in my studio.

Auditioning for some new voice jobs, finishing up my new demos, re-doing a book trailer, and putting things up on ebay.

I try not to push my family aside for work…but sometimes it happens. You can’t help it!
