How Was Your Christmas?
How was your Christmas?
My daughter is only 4. Well, she’ll be 5 in January, so let’s just say she’s 5.
I told my daughter Paige that she has to leave out cookies and milk for Santa. My wife thought it was a little…well, over the top. It was so cute to see that Paige wanted to leave Santa three cookies and a big glass of milk.
Low and behold, on Christmas morning, Santa ate 2 cookies and took a big bite out of the last cookie too. Santa also drank a ½ a glass of the milk.
My wife asked me “why didn’t Santa eat ALL the cookies and drink ALL the milk?”
I told her, “Maybe Santa had so many cookies already (you know, from eating cookies at EVERY house on the planet) he couldn’t eat them all at our house. So he took a big bite out of the last cookie to let Paige know that he DID eat cookies! And he only left ½ a glass of milk so that Paige would know he did drink some of the milk.” The point is…proof that Santa was here!
The reason I bring this up is because my wife never got to experience the “fun” stuff like that. She’s from a very small town and I’m from the sub-burbs of a big city. Christmas time was a little bit different in my house compared to where my wife grew up. To see the look on my daughter face, when she saw that Santa had eaten the cookies and drank the milk, was priceless. She was totally surprised.
Paige was even more surprised by the all the gifts she got too. A Princess microphone, a princess guitar, some new clothes (which she didn’t seem to care to much for. But what 5 year old likes to get clothes on Christmas) although she did LOVE some of the new dresses she got. My daughter LOVES to put on dresses!
It looks to me that Paige might be a singer when she grows up. She can’t really play the guitar yet but she strums it a lot. And to see her in front of the mike, playing her guitar in a dress, ….she just seems like a soon to be country music star. Like she might be Taylor Swift in about 10 - 15 years!
You’ll see what I mean soon. I’ll post a video when I get a chance to edit. Christmas may be over, but it’s still kind of a crazy week here.
As for me, I didn’t get much, but that’s fine. I got want I wanted and needed. Seeing the smile on my daughters face, when she opened her presents, is the greatest gift for me.
Finally, I want to ask…how was your Christmas?
